As many Michael Jackson advocates already know, the Discovery Channel is planning to air a program, on a Discovery channel to be determined, that uses the Los Angeles County Coroner's Report to recreate Michael's autopsy on an anatomically correct synthetic cadaver. We don't know if the synthetic cadaver will be altered to resemble Michael.

This program is scheduled to air on January 13 and three dates thereafter in the United Kingdom. Inquiries directed to Discovery Communications indicate there are no plans at this time to air the program in the United States. This doesn't mean it won't eventually be aired in the U.S.; only that it's not currently scheduled to be aired in the U.S.

It's been announced within Michael Jackson's online community of advocates that the Discovery Channel is actually OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network.

This is not true.

OWN, acronym for Oprah Winfrey Network, is a future U.S. specialty channel, set to launch on January 1, 2011, owned jointly by Discovery Communications and Harpo Productions. Winfrey's network will replace only the Discovery Health Channel, which has fallen victim to low viewer ratings, on cable and satellite feeds. The use of the word "network" to describe Winfrey's new endeavor is a misnomer. She's taking over the Discovery Health Channel only with programming of her own choosing.

The Oprah Winfrey Network is only one of 28 separate brands--NOT the owner of the Discovery Channel or Discovery Communications. At these links are several press releases that explain the breadth of OWN's program choices.

UNLESS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE HAPPENS, THIS OFFENSIVE SHOW FOR MONEY AND RATINGS WILL BE AIRED!!! The Michael Jackson Estate has been notified and according to the legal team nothing is illegal in what Discovery is doing.

So Now It's Up to US... The Admires of Michael Jackson to UNITE. Please read the following letter:

When Michael was alive, he had many opportunities to lash out at those who hurt him.  We all know who those people are, so we won’t dignify them by mentioning them here.  The point is, he didn’t verbally retaliate. He did, however, implore his fans: “Don’t waste your cash on filthy tabloid trash.”

He also wrote songs to allay his frustration.

We’ve written to everybody and his brother at Discovery Communications.  We’ve emailed, snail mailed and called, but apparently the fake autopsy will proceed on January 13.  Despite the Estate’s attempted intervention, there are no legal grounds on which to halt this program.  All that’s left is to dig deep within ourselves and not give in to our human tendency to crane our necks to watch a train wreck.

Michael’s fans didn’t always heed his plea to not buy tabloids.  However, in honor of Michael, and to show gratitude for all he has given us, even now after his passing through a new album and gifts of The Immortal by Cirque du Soleil and other events, we can promise ourselves and each other that we will not patronize this sordid and dishonorable breach of Michael’s privacy.

Let’s be united in our conviction to NOT tune in on January 13 through 17, 2011. Send a message to the Discovery Channel that their tone-deaf plan to stage a mock autopsy of a beloved icon is ill-advised and grossly tasteless.

Please don’t let your human curiosity get the best of you by watching this program. Please think first of Michael’s legacy and his children and let this program suffer the death it deserves.  If you’re tempted by curiosity to see what the program is all about, please look at Michael’s sweet smile and tell yourself, “It’s not worth it.  I will honor Michael through my restraint.”

Taj Jackson was also involved in the campaign about ITV:

"CEThomson We now have Taj Jackson threatening legal action and an US ambassador supporting the campaign. Let the media know!"

C. Thomsom was in touch with Taj about ITV, as Taj tweeted various posts about it on Nov. 11.

"@CEThomson Taj please RT! Address to complain to ITV over MacKenzie comments: viewerservices@itv.com Info here: http://tinyurl.com/238kbw9"

He was instrumental in helping get the Gardner Elementary school sign uncovered, with the support of fans and has been in touch with fans about a number of issues e.g. MJ's mistreatment by MTV, Oprah, etc. MTV Europe responded quickly to him and did a tribute. Also #MessageToMJ on MJ's birthday, #HoldMyHand, etc.

He is a good resource and contact for MJ advocacy:

Thank you visage.... very much. I'm a big supporter of CT.... and familiar with taj and the help he did with the uncovering of the school.

This Discovery crap has every one broken hearted and others, pissed. I'm not going to stop emailing and faxing Silver Springs MD no matter what. I live here on the East Coast and one of the Headquarters is located not far from me. I've already UPS'd several letters......

I'm sick to my heart over this, it's making me not sleep.

IF ONLY.........

IF ONLY enough of Michael's "fans" were really united we sure could use the numbers in protesting right now... and I'm sure there will be other times too... but the unity, I don't feel is "there"

Thanks again

Discovery cancels Michael Jackson autopsy TV show

(Reuters) - The Discovery television network on Friday said it canceled plans to air a reenactment of the autopsy on Michael Jackson's body, citing an upcoming court hearing and concern by the late pop star's estate.

The show, "Michael Jackson's Autopsy: What Really Killed Michael Jackson," had been set to air in several countries of western Europe and in the United Kingdom on January 13.

"Given the commencement of legal proceedings beginning next week, and at the request of Michael Jackson's estate, the scheduled broadcast of the medical documentary related to Michael Jackson's official autopsy has been postponed indefinitely," Discovery Networks International said in a statement.

A Discovery spokesman declined comment beyond the statement. Co-executors of the estate responded in their own statement saying they were "pleased" with the decision.

The "Thriller" singer died suddenly of a prescription drug overdose on June 25, 2009, age 50, only weeks before beginning a series of comeback concerts. An autopsy by Los Angeles officials showed Jackson died chiefly of an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol that he used as a sleep aid.

Discovery's show, which was not scheduled to air in the United States, was an unofficial, fictional account of what the autopsy must have been like and its results.

But Jackson fans worldwide protested in an online petition launched earlier this month, and the co-executors of his estate sent a letter this week to Discovery Networks calling the program "insensitive" and "in shockingly bad taste."

A print advertisement for the program shows a body covered by a sheet, with one hand poking out wearing the singer's well-known sequined glove.

Following Discovery's decision, McClain and Branca released a statement saying, "we are hopeful that this show will never run in any market in the future."

"While Discovery cited legal proceedings and our request as the reasons for its decision, none of this would have happened had it not been for the incredible passion displayed by countless Michael Jackson fans worldwide who knew they stood as one and that their voices could not be ignored," the statement said.

Jackson's physician at the time of his death, Dr. Conrad Murray, has admitted giving the singer propofol, which is often used in surgery, and Murray has been charged by authorities with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death.

Murray has pleaded not guilty, and a preliminary hearing to determine if enough evidence exists to make him stand trial begins in Los Angeles on January 4.
