MJJCollectors.com can now EXCLUSIVELY reveal that Panini America will release the second and final printing of the Michael Jackson hobby boxes on 9/21/11!! The planned production of the popular hobby boxes was to occur in two stages, with the first half of the production to be released in mid-June and the second half to be released in September.  Until now, it was uncertain if that second and final printing was to take place.  But due to unprecedented demand compared to any other entertainment-based product in recent memory, Panini has confirmed that the release will move forward as planned, and will hit USA stores next month.  Read complete details on the new release exclusively from MJJCollectors.com right here.

The frenzy created by the release of these cards has already surpassed levels never before seen in any “non-sports” trading card, with many cards selling online for several hundreds of dollars.  In fact, at least two cards sold on Ebay in recent weeks for over $1100 each! Panini America sold out of its entire wholesale inventory of the first printing by July 1st—less than TWO WEEKS from the date of their release!

What exactly is this new product release, and how does it differ from the boxes and cards that were released June 15th?
These cards are simply the second half of the first production run, which was always to be done in two stages if the demand called for it.  Therefore, these cards are not a “second series”, they are the same cards and inserts that were produced in the first half of the production.  Also, Panini states this will not effect the quoted quantities (i.e.: there are still only 500 total Golds for each card number, 100 Platinums, 10 Diamonds, etc.) as listed in the checklist.  In fact, only about half of the quoted quantities listed in the checklist were produced in the first printing.  So, for example, less than half of the quoted “249 or less” of each of the five Televised Fashions cards were produced in the first printing, and the remaining numbers (presumably to a total of 249 each, but no more than that) will be produced in this second release.

Will there be any “new” cards or inserts in this release?
No.  Again, this printing is simply the second half of the first production run.  It does not contain any “new” cards or inserts not included in the original June release.

Will this dilute the rarity or value of the cards released in mid-June?
No.  Panini has assured us that the quantities as printed in their checklist will not be altered in any way.  This second printing is simply the second half of the first production run, which was always intended to be printed in two stages (probably to gauge or prolong the demand and interest in the product for several more months).  So there still will only be 100 Platinums and only 10 Diamonds of each base card, etc.  Since the quantities originally quoted will remain unchanged, the rarity and hence values of the cards will be unaffected.

Will the contents of these hobby boxes be any different than those from the first printing?
No.  Each hobby box in this second printing will contain exactly the same contents and ratios as in the first printing of hobby boxes.  Specifically, 24 packs of cards (with 5 cards in each pack), for a total of 120 cards per box.  Panini states that each hobby box will contain at least 8 Achievement cards, 12 Decades, 6 Top Tens, 6 Number Ones and at least 3 Gold Parallels, just like the first printing.  Also, the proposed artwork for these hobby boxes will be the same as the first printing, aside from some minor textual changes and corrections as detailed here.

Are the odds at finding one of the special insert cards in these new hobby boxes the same as in the first printing?
Yes, Panini America states that the odds on the insert cards are exactly the same as in the boxes released in June.  You can view a complete list of the insert cards and the quantities they were produced in here.

Does it make a difference if the cards I buy are from the first or second printing hobby boxes?
No.  The only difference is the price.  Because the first printing is sold out, Ebay vendors are currently selling sealed hobby boxes from the first printing for as much as $100-120/box! After the second printing sells out, this price is expected to climb even higher in the coming months.  This is your chance to buy sealed hobby boxes for only $79/box! But this special pre-order price won’t last long.  The pricing will increase significantly next month, just prior to the release date.  Based on the demand and limited availability of the product, this second printing is expected to sell out as quickly as the first.  So don’t miss out on your chance to own these final pieces of HIStory…exclusively from MJJCollectors.com. Pre-Order Yours TODAY!
