Note: I wanted to post this on November 18th but I couldn't because we were planning on launching the new site.
November 18th 1972, The Jackson 5 appear and perform at the 6th Annual Black Image Awards at the Hollywood Palladium. Many pictures of Michael and the boys (and LaToya) can already be found here and you can find performance pictures here.
The J5 won an award as the “Best Singing Group of the Year” for the 3rd time in a row!
First of all, I’ve got a picture of Jackie, Jermaine, LaToya and Joe. It’s a small picture but worth the post!
Then, I have two other pictures that I kept in my 1972 NAACP folder on my computer but I’m not sure anymore if this was at the 1972 NAACP awards!
The first one is this picture of Tito and Deedee sitting at a table.
Tito’s wearing the same suit but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they were taken at the same event (for instance, the boys also wore these suits when the met the Queen in the UK). And I never knew Deedee was there although she may have just skipped the red carpet and only came for the dinner party. Another thing that made me suspicious was the pictures laying on the table of some woman. There are two identical pictures, maybe they’re programs for a show??? Does anyone recognize that woman?
Furthermore, I’ve got a picture of Randy who’s probably sitting on the same kind of chair that can be seen in the picture of Tito and Deedee.
So wherever Tito and Deedee are, Randy was there too, maybe these pictures were taken at the NAACP awards afterall? Can anyone else help figure this out?
