Hi there,
My name is Dorothy but folks usually call me Dodo (as in the bird). I've been a member of the facebook group for a month or so now and when you guys sent out the message that you had a website, well...smiles did abound. Unfortunately, I've only become a big fan of MJ since he passed away and as such am fairly new to the world of collecting and haven't anything to offer you guys that you probably haven't seen a thousand times before. Still, I continue as a junior in my relentless search for the rare pics of MJ, hoping to someday be able to contribute to the generous collection already in store in this fair group.
As for my own life, aside from Michaeling, I am a researcher and docent at a local historical society, a practitioner of judo, an avid hiker, and a voracious reader of comics, old detective novels, and history books. Hope to have good relations with you folks and wish to thank you all right now for sharing the fruits of your years of labor! Good luck and God Bless!
L.O.V.E.

lol, it is so if you would prefer to call me Dorothy or Draskou, feel free. It would be awful to form a stigma on my first day here  :P Thanks for the welcome!

Hello Dorothy,

thanks for sharing so much about you with us.

I know several fans who became a fan after Michael has left this world, which is really interesting to me. Can you describe what made you feel different about Michael last year?

Thanks for the welcomes, folks!
@Billie Jean: could you be....THE Billie Jean? :D Girl, hope to see you soon and well! Nice to see you on this site, and what's your Tumblr address? I'm probably reblogging your stuff all the time

@MJSunshine: Tough question there!

Alright, I've been writing for like two hours here, trying to explain and figure it out for myself. Eventually I stumbled upon a character trait of mine which explains not only my spontaneous love for Michael, but many other spontaneous (but long lasting) loves. It seems that's this is a definite pattern in the way I react to certain situations. Thus, my situation may or may not be typical, having never discussed this with anybody ever :P

I'll try to explain it in the most relatable terms I can:

Say you're doing a multiple choice question on a test. You don't quite know the answer in your head though you'd know it if you were to read it so you read the answers. As you read the incorrect answers your mind halfheartedly goes "maybe...maybe..." until your eyes alight on the right answer and a light-bulb goes off in your head and you think "AHA I know this is the right answer!" as memories of every detail come flooding back to you. That's the way I am about people. Not until the thoughts and opinions in my mind regarding someone are mirrored by the right answer will I know that I even have those thoughts in my mind. Given the wrong answer, I'll just say "maybe...maybe..." with doubt as I did with Michael for years upon years. See, Michael has always been maligned in the media and in my family and in my circle of friends. There hasn't been one person in my life who ever freely loved Michael for things other than his music. So always when I heard of Michael it was "Maybe he did that, maybe he was like that..." It wasn't until I met someone else who had this love for him that my mind fit the puzzle pieces together and showed me a perfectly formed opinion of him that my subconscious had been bouncing around for years just waiting for a catalyst to release. It just so happens I met that person after Michael died and not beforehand  :(

After I found he had died, I felt an emptiness in me that I wasn't able to push away. The only way to fill the gap was to look up MJ vids on YouTube and muse about him all the time. Then when I met my first MJ friend and saw shining from her what was trapped in my own mind, the floodgates were opened and I found real happiness in thinking of him freely, examining memories of him and thoughts which had been locked up for years. Hope this answers your question! Glad you asked it really, I discovered something about myself today  :)

Thank you for your words, Dorothy. :)
And thanks for putting so much time in your answer (two hours - wow!)

I am happy you got to meet your friend who in some kind of way opened up your eyes about Michael. I am sure there are plenty of people who like Michael's music, but who have heard all those crazy stories about him constantly, not only in the press, but from their family and friends who have made up their opinions from what they have heard in the news. This really is a cycle which is hard to break.

Noticeably hard. Aphrodite Jone's show which aired recently on Michael's trial was really the most positive show I'd ever seen done on him. It just so happens I watched it with my parents (who as I mentioned, always disliked him and thought him guilty) and afterward my father turned to me and said "I'm glad you're a Michael Jackson fan." Miracle of Miracles!   If my father is any sort of tell on the pulse of the average MJ hater around there (the average that is, not the psychos), then all they need is the chance to see things from the other side of the fence. I'm really hoping she does more stuff on him, who knows how many others have had a similar experience in their homes?

Yes, you're right.
But sadly, footage like this will never air at prime time, so that the majority of people would have the chance to see it. For example, here in Germany, they prefer to show the Ian Halperin documentation on June 24th which I am sure will be sensationalism in its pure form.

But really, I am glad about your fahter's reaction  :)
